UK emcee Otis Mensah brings nothing but pure bars and lyricism on his new song “Solar Eclipse” and its video as well. The smooth vintage production by the intern will take the listener back to the 90s with its boom-bap drums and flavour laced with jazz elements. Lyrically speaking, Mensah doesn’t pull back the verbal punches on the track and goes for the jugular with multi-syllabic rhymes switching between laid-back and double-time flows.
The video directed by GRIT MULTIMEDIA shows Otis Mensah making coffee at Ink & Water Coffee while kicking bars to the patrons. Otis Mensah is “a young story-teller-rapper-poet with a talent for drawing the poetic from the everyday happenings in his life.” The alternative hip-hop artist has risen from a new wave; age and era, embodying a contemporary, poetic take on hip-hop music. The music he creates sheds light on existential commonalities discovered through introspection with often off-kilter lyrics, accompanied by a sentimental vibe.
“Solar Eclipse” is taken from Otis Mensah’s new EP “Mum’s House, Philosopher”, get it on Spotify, Soundcloud, and Bandcamp.
