No that’s not a typo, Pharrell recently revealed the website 24 Hours of Happy (http://24hoursofhappy.com/) A site displaying Pharrell’s new visuals for ‘Happy’, the first 24 hour long music video ever. Those who choose to visit the site (it might slow down your computer a little) are greeted with a clock, a small interface and the video which takes up the full window. Pharrell’s contribution towards the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack ‘Happy’ plays on loop for 24 hours, with different dancers, Pharrell makes an appearance every half an hour or so to join in on the fun. Each video connects smoothly to the last and proceed in chronological order, scroll through the video and see a janitor jiving after school and a swinging shop assistant on the job among many other colourful characters. The cheerful song, when combined with the visuals, creates an infectiously joyful effect, be warned: may cause happiness
The video is split up into 4 hour sections on Pharrell’s iamOther YouTube page although for the full effect I advise visiting the website and playing around with it: http://24hoursofhappy.com/
Released alongside it was a 4 minute long video for ‘Happy’ with shortened clips from the 24 hour version:
What do you guys think? Is it an innovation? is it a gimmick? Can you watch it all?
