We normally don’t do this. As a matter of fact, we don’t do this. But this had to be done. If you don’t know by now, Kendrick Lamar shut down the internet for the last 24 hours and rightfully so. The response was so tremendous that we got together at WORK today to record this reaction video to Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Big Sean’s “Control” record. Oh yea, and Jay Electronica was on it too. S/O to Jerry with WhyCauseICan.com and Speaker430.

First, I think KL not only called out rappers to step up their bars, but also to produce better albums. KL is saying to other rappers, go to the lab and make better music than he is making. One of the reasons KL is making this claim, and also why his verse has validity, is because he has actually produced two great albums—one of which is an epic. All the MC’s he named have not even produced a great album (with the exception of Big KRIT). Therefore, the question is: If KL has two great albums and the other rappers do even have one great album, who is better?
I agree with Mike C and Feefo, in that rappers will not respond, as they should. Responding to KL is not only about stepping up one’s bars but also making good music (i.e. good albums). Quite honestly, most MC’s do make good albums: good songs yes, good albums NO. Therefore, it does not matter if they put out a song responding to KL, if they turn around and make a shitty album.
By the way, this verse reminded me of Canibus’s verse on Beast from the East. Too bad Canibus makes bad albums
