One thing you need in hip hop as an artist is diversity. Hearing Kane Mayfield shed his comfort zone, for lack of better words, for something a little bit more subdued is refreshing. The thing about stepping outside of your element in hip hop is that, while we may appreciate you challenging yourself, we may not always appreciate the results of your effort. With “Hydrants”, Kane Mayfield shows that he is a diverse emcee that can give you many different facets to him as an artists. Take a listen to “Hydrants” and if you’re not following Kane Mayfield, I highly recommend you start paying attention.
