Hey guys,
I was wondering about this today after watching a review video. Do you guys feel like today that mixtapes outshine albums and that the nostalgia of an artist’s album being released is lost? I know personally I’ve heard mixtapes that sounded better on every level: production, beats, sound, musical direction etc than the artist’s major label debut or LP drop (slaughterhouse is a good example). I think that it is sad when this occurs because if the artist fails to deliver on the album then it won’t sell and it could result in the artist being dropped from the label or very least the artist makes no money and hey everyone has to eat. Most people say that mixtapes and albums are the same thing, but their not because the artist is only making money off the album since most mixtapes are released for free. I was just curious what ya’ll thought about it.
