“Affirmative Action” is the first leak from the Immortals Project’s upcoming LP Rogue Agents. The song shows what a tailor made track for an emcee like El Da Sensei can do to enhance what that the song ultimately becomes. Most recently, the instrumental was used in a skate video which features Paul Rodriguez and Bucky Lasek (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F06LlPqjgHQ&feature=youtu.be&t=3m36s) on Tony Hawk’s YouTube Channel (Ride Channel). Currently consisting of veteran emcee El Da Sensei and beatmaker/producer Duplicuts, The Immortals Project is based on a rotating membership where members may enter in and out of the group (similar to Crooklyn Dodgers) but the end goal is always the same, to make music for a lifestyle.
The video was shot primarily by Jersey-based V2 Photography over the course of two days. Once all video parts were edited down, Philip Ricafort took over post-production/visual EFX and really helped bring it all together to give it a modern look, but with somewhat of a film noir visual style (particularly the scenes where El & Duplicuts are dodging lasers).
“Making this video was crazy because what may not come across in the video is actually how HOT it was outside! The day of filming was 106 degrees in Newark, New Jersey which, was then followed by end-of-the-world thunderstorms, then back to heat and mad humidity! If you see beads of sweat on our faces, it isn’t just from all the running around we did but also from the intense heat! But it’s all good though because the video came out how we wanted it.” – Duplicuts.
The song is currently available as a FREE download at the Shining Shadow Music Store until October 15th, at which point it goes on sale worldwide.
