I didn’t know what to expect last night prior to attending the first day of the International Music Conference. If the remaining two days are anything like the first, we’re in for a pretty good weekend.
Kicking things off for this three-day event hosted in Atlanta, Georgia was the Producer Showcase hosted by Fort Knox at 595 North Event Space and Lounge. The first few hours were spent networking and meeting some great people such as Michael, CEO of Beat Thang (@beatthang), DJ Lady B (@dj_ladyb) of RadioOneATL.com, Writer Junkie & Kevin C from Patchwerk Studiosand Fonz from New Era Atlanta.
As the crowd continued to pour in and networking pressed on, the evening’s events kicked off with a DJ competition. 3 djs battled head-to-head in a spin off and the winner was a 19 year-old who had just heard about the event earlier that day. He was dope and definitely lived up to the winner title. His set was a mix of southern music, reggaeton, go-go along with all types of scratches, blends, tempo changes and call and response.
After the DJ competition, the Producer Show begun. Drumma Boy, Kane Beatz, Kendrick Dean and more served as judges for the evening. Unfortunately the DEHH team was unable to stay for the whole set but we did manage to catch the first 2 producers and they were good. The judges had nothing but positive feedback for them. Based on what I heard from them, I look forward to seeing some of the final work they put out on the hip hop scene.
Day 1 of the International Music Conference was great and I commend them for running the event so smoothly. On to day 2…
