Jay Z ranked his albums from best to worst on his birthday earlier this month. After looking at his rankings, I hit up the crew for their personal rankings. We asked Myke C-Town but it should come as no surprise that he opted out…hahaha.
Please note, only solo albums were included and not his collaborations with Kanye West, R. Kelly, Linkin Park or any compilations. If you want, leave us your rankings in the comment section.

MM- MCHG too high
Kinge- Black Album too low
Feefo- Vol. 3 last… really.. Vol. 3 is your worst Jay-Z album???
1. Reasonable Doubt
2. Blueprint
3. American Gangster
4. Black Album
5. Vol. 1
6. Vol. 2
7. Dynasty
8. Blueprint 2
9. Vol. 2
10. Blueprint 3
11. MCHG
12. Kingdom Come
1. Reasonable Doubt (First rate classic, Jay’s peak lyrically, not much else to say)
2. The Blueprint (Game changing classic)
3. The Black Album (Jay’s last true classic)
4. Vol. 2 (A bit mainstream, but still a classic in my opinion. Flows are crazy here)
5. Vol. 1 (About 2/3 of this is classic, stellar Hov (Especially Intro, Streets, FoF ’98, Where I’m From, Rap/Crack Game), the rest is forced mainstream bs (thanks Puff)
6. American Gangster (Incredibly solid, strong lyrically, some flows were questionable)
7. The Dynasty (Really dope, underrated project imo. Intro is amazing, beats and bars are on point, and the features are solid)
8. Vol. 3 (A bit spotty, but a bunch of classics here.)
9. Magna Carta (Overall, a dope project. Hov sounds uninspired a decent amount, but there is undeniably some good content, and some amazing sounding songs)
10. BP2 (Underrated, but still too long and flawed)
11. BP3 (Obviously a very successful project for Jay, but I feel like the sound won’t age well at all)
12. Kingdom Come (Had a few joints, but a lot of mediocre shit)
Am i the only one that didn’t like Vol. 1?
1. Reasonable Doubt
2. The Blueprint
3. The Black Album
4. Vol. 1 (some great tracks on here, Jay must’ve been trippin with “I Know What Girls Like” though)
5. Vol. 3 (“So Ghetto” and “Big Pimpin” is great)
6. Kingdom Come (kinda weird that I liked it, there are great tracks on there, but some godawful ones too.)
7. Blueprint 3 (The whole first half was some of Jay’s greatest work, but then failed misreably in other half.)
8. MCHG (meh project with hot beats for Picasso Baby and Somewhere In America)
9. American Gangster (I hated this album for some reason, maybe it was because I listened to it late)
10.Blueprint 2 (liked some songs but too many songs had bad beats and the 2nd disc was mostly filler)
11. The Dynasty (Nothing really special here except song where Jay talks about his dad with Beanie Sigel.)
12. Vol. 2 (This album almost made me give up on Jay, it was that bad for me. There are two good songs, the
title track and Can I Get A, with the latter almost being ruined by the guests.)
Kinge how did you rate the black album so low? easily one of his best

Surprised yall got american gangster that high…few choice cuts, not timeless enough to be top 5 for me though…mine go, reasonable doubt, blueprint, black album, vol 1, vol 2, vol 3(so ghetto, do it again (one of the most perfect 16s ever spit!,nymp, its hot, snoopy track..yall crazy rankin this low),blueprint 2(very solid esp for a double LP), blueprint 3, kingdom come, MCHG, Dynasty, american gangster(weakest lyrically and production wise IMHO)…
I would like to edit my bottom 4…it would be more like american gangster, mcgh, dynasty, and kingdom come last. Changed it based on the amount of joints i still listen to off each album.
I’m with you on Vol. 3 although it claimed the 5th spot. American Gangster is a great album. It’s Jay Z’s first “soundtrack” and he wrote the whole concept off of the movie. For him to never have done a concept album and to pull one off on this level was remarkable. The execution behind the album deserves credit. He didn’t have those big hits most look for but as an overall project, it was dope.
I too think BP 2 is undervalued. He had songs on that album.
You sleeping on American Gangster…weak lyrics what? go back and listen to that album.
Ken be trolling with Kingdom Come at 7th
That may be a little high but I like it more than most folks. He had some slept on records on that album.
