1996 was an incredible year for hip hop. On July 30, 1996, A Tribe Called Quest released Beats, Rhymes and Life. It was the 4th album from the legendary hip hop trio. This album was lauded by critics and despised by many of Tribe’s faithful fans. It was a commercial success for the group…but that success came a cost.
