Album: A-Wax – Jesus Malverde

February 27, 2013 by deadendhiphop

AWax-Malverde

A-Wax released hew new album, Jesus Malverde. The 14-track project, which includes features from Waka Flocka Flame, Gucci Mane, DJ Paul (of Three 6 Mafia), and Ca$his, along with production from Southside, Cardiak, Nonstop Da Hitman, and more, is being released for free via A-Wax’s own label, Pie-Rx Recordz, in conjunction with Illburn Records.

Jesus Malverde is titled in homage to the patron saint of drug dealers, outlaws, and bandits, who lived in the early 1900s and was supposedly a thief and criminal. With the rising awareness around the cartel wars, and the emergence in popularity of movies like Blow and Traffic, A-Wax wanted felt the title perfect, not only to represent himself and the music, but as a way to educate listeners on a man he calls, “my favorite saint.” “Everyone can google the news, or read up on the latest kingpin,” remarks Wax, “but the first man to ever represent for the streets was Jesus Malverde.”
