Three things that made you go AAHH

Three things that made you go AAHH

aahh

Over the weekend Chicago’s own Common with Donda’s house held the first annual AAHH fest, which acted as an end of the summer farewell celebrating good vibes and music. Many acts like De La Soul, Mc Lyte, Lil Herb, Jay Electronica, and special guest Kanye West revived the city that night filled with surprises. With so many things going on I had to sit back and give you three moments that make you go “AAHH”.

1. Jay Electronicas shoulder ride to glory.

While rocking out a 3 o’clock crowd at the Aahh fest over the weekend. Jay Electronica breaks out in the crowd after giving a salute to J Dilla to perform the classic Exhibit A. Not only is the crowd in lust of the hip hop moment because that’s what we’re here for right? Jay Elect takes a ride with a young Chicago producer Laerec into glory to close out his set. Leaving the ever so growing crowd simply wanting and awaiting for more as the festival sets off.

2. Lil Mama pops out.

During a nostalgic set by MC Lyte the lyte as a rock MC flipped things on it’s ear when introducing Lil Mama to the stage to spit. The crowd emotions were in teeter totter mode but after the end of the bars she let out, it took the crowd through the short hip hop moments in Lil Mama’s career. Passing of the torch? Maybe not but still a good vibe.

3. Chicago’s Big Three

Lupe Fiasco, Common, and Kanye West is very rare in the city. Chicago hasn’t seen such a show since Flashing lights. With all three rocking the stage and Ye getting brought out by Common as the surprise guest it felt like a city uplifted all in one night. There was no worries and great music. These three are essential to not only Chicago, but to hip hop period. Also a classic super sixteen from Twista there was too many “Aahhs” to pass around.
