The Stussy x Delicious Vinyl Collection celebrates the 25th Anniversary of the LA-based record label. The minor label started in the late 80s and became a major figure in the evolution of hip-hop through the early 90s with acts such as The Pharcyde, Masta Ace, Tone Loc, The Whoridas, Young MC and Brand New Heavies.
Check out this interview as Q-Tip reflects back on Low End Theory, competing with Dr. Dre, classic albums, and more. I just finished listening to it and it’s a nice insight into hip hop back in the nineties.
Read the interview on XXL about Mecca and the Soul Brother as Pete Rock reflects on the making on the album. The part that stood out to me the most was his viewpoint on bootlegging back in 1992. It sounds very similar to what the industry is facing now just from a technology perspective.
