Kamron Bahani: “Magnum Opus Open” [Album Review]

March 23, 2018 by Michael Stover Leave a Comment

I always applaud new artists for even attempting to come up in this music industry, everywhere we turn a new trend is being thrown in our face. Social media dictates more than any of us would like to admit. New York’s Kamron Bahani has gone through the trenches, last year he erupted onto the scene with three projects. Two EPs and his debut LP, his first EP put everyone on notice as Bahani showed that he was full of raw talent. His LP “By The River“ unraveled the story of Bahani while continuing to showcase his fire starter abilities. Now in 2018, Kamron Bahani is here with his sophomore album “Magnum Opus Open” (which I’m referring to as MOO from here on out, deal with it).

Off top you can hear Kamron Bahani’s growth, yes we’re still getting the quick spitter who can string words together better than most, but it’s clear Bahani has slowed down just a tick to really figure out who he is as an artist and what he sounds best on. To me, this was the most important facet of the album because it gives Bahani the consistency some of the previous releases were lacking. This is heard first on “Red” we get a heater of a beat in our headphones, but Bahani’s ready to go spitting like we’ve gotten to know over the last year and a half. It’s the next track “West 63” that shows Bahani knows where he shines brightest. The underground, funk, jazzy sound is guaranteed to have you on your feet, I’d love to hear this live.

Kamron Bahani sounds the most comfortable over these instrumentals, which are varied from the underground involved “Marcus Aurelius” to the soul-bearing “I”. One of my bigger gripes with Bahani’s music over the last couple projects is the almost forced singing vocals. This time though, again it seems like Bahani took a step and added an extra effect in post-production to be more cohesive to the music and it may not work every time, “I” is a perfect example of where his singing works.

“Magnum Opus Open” is by far Kamron Bahani’s most focused and pinpoint effort. I don’t think Bahani’s reached his final form yet and that’s honestly more terrifying about the New York upstart. If you like energetic rap that smacks you in the head but soothes you with vulnerabilities Kamron Bahani is the emcee for you. I think I want to see Bahani dive a bit deeper into storytelling and using different flows but as with everything music is a growing process. For now enjoy “Magnum Opus Open”.

Kamron Bahani: “Magnum Opus Open” [Album Stream]

March 15, 2018 by Michael Stover Leave a Comment

For those of you who’ve been rocking with me for a minute you know that New York upstart Kamron Bahani was one of my favorite emcees from last year. After dropping three projects (two EPs & an LP) Bahani has been somewhat silent in 2018. He dropped a single in “We Go Ego” a while ago, but we haven’t heard much since.

Never fear though, Kamron Bahani is here with his sophomore LP “Magnum Opus Open” the follow up to his debut “By The River”. This is the fourth project I’ve heard from Bahani and it’s easy to chart the growth and talent of the emcee. In MOO it sounds like Kamron Bahani has almost reached his final form, produced entirely by Ohini Jonez, Bahani sounds like he’s finally found the sound that’s perfect for him. But I’ll let you be the judge, you can peep “Magnum Opus Open” and if you aren’t convinced you can peep the music video for “Marcus Aurelius” above.

Kamron Bahani: “Senpo” (prod. by Ohini Jonez)

January 8, 2018 by Michael Stover Leave a Comment

New York emcee Kamron Bahani had an unbelieveable 2017, dropping three projects including his debut LP and two other surrounding EPs. Bahani proved that he could spit with the best of them, while also willing to experiment with different genres.

In 2018, Kamron Bahani is coming out the gates swinging and seemingly with a new drive and direction. In “Senpo” Kamron Bahani is heading back to his roots, this time with Georgia producer Ohini Jonez to bring that underground sound. Kamron brings the heat as always and this is a perfect way to start the New Year, and the perfect way to introduce Bahani’s sophomore album “Magnum Opus Open” which is set to release March 18th.

Kamron Bahani: “The Crown Doesn’t Cure The Headache” [Album Review]

November 16, 2017 by Michael Stover Leave a Comment

I know I’m getting on your nerves speaking on New York’s Kamron Bahani, but you have to respect his grind. Back in May, Bahani exploded on the scene with his EP “DSM VI”, the project was lyrically centered around mental illness. Bahani leveled up yet again in releasing his debut full-length album “By The River”, a more centered effort, Bahani appealed to both underground and radio listeners alike with heaters like “Pistola”.

Somehow, some way Kamron Bahani has decided to release one last project to close out the year in “The Crown Doesn’t Cure The Headache”. Usually I’m against artists dropping so much music at one time, but in the case of Bahani it almost seemed like he had to release this. The joint is four tracks, however it’s still a focused effort. It’s clear Bahani lost someone near and dear to him and any time that happens it can be jarring, to the point of triggering fight or flight. Bahani chose to fight.

There are a couple ways to take this project, one can see this as an extension of “By The River”, Bahani is spitting on every track on here. As with “By The River” the singing is there, I can honestly say that he’s improved in the singing department, but sometimes the hooks are jarring, taking the listener outside of the experience. The production on this is tilted, off-kilter and trippy and honestly I think this is the production Bahani stands out most on.

Bahani’s closing out 2017 on a high note, rumor has it he’s already working on his sophomore follow-up to “By The River”. “The Crown Doesn’t Cure The Headache” is Bahani’s victory lap drenched in tragedy and recovery. The title fits perfectly, regardless of how high we get life will knock you on your a** in a heartbeat. What will you do? Take a listen to Bahani’s fight and let me know what you think.

Kamron Bahani: “The Crown Doesn’t Cure The Headache” [Album Stream]

November 4, 2017 by Michael Stover Leave a Comment

New York emcee Kamron Bahani had an active 2017, starting with his debut “DSM VI” where mental illness was the topic. Shortly after that, Bahani made his presence known in the varied yet still potent debut LP “By The River”. Both projects alone were enough to propel the emcee to the next level. However amongst all this, life still hits hard, it doesn’t care if you’re on top or at the bottom, pain can strike whenever. When that happens you can stand and fight, or run away.

In Bahani’s latest EP “The Crown Doesn’t Cure The Headache” chooses to fight. The title is perfect for this project as Bahani presents four stages of grief. In being one of 2017’s more prolific emcees, Bahani’s been getting alot of attention, that ascension didn’t stop life from blindsiding him. Going through it? Pop in this four track EP and let me know what you think. Get ready for a review coming next week.

Kamron Bahani: “We Go Ego”

October 27, 2017 by Michael Stover Leave a Comment

As I’ve made it known, New York’s Kamron Bahani has quickly become one of my favorite up and coming emcees this year. It’s rare to have an artist with his amount of talent also have the consistent output he’s had this year. It all started with DSM VI, Bahani evolved and released his debut LP “By The River” earlier this fall and it looks like his closing act is one last EP entitled “Crowns Don’t Cure The Headaches”.

To introduce the idea to the audience Bahani has released the single “We Go Ego” and ladies and gentlemen, we have another heater as you head into your Halloween weekend. I also suggest listening to the track more than once as there’s more than meets…the ear? Kamron Bahani’s “Crown Don’t Cure The Headaches” is set to release next Saturday on November the 4th.

Kamron Bahani: “Grown” (prod. by Cxdy)

September 27, 2017 by Michael Stover Leave a Comment

Kamron Bahani’s grind continues, just a couple months after putting out his debut LP (which he put out a couple months after his debut EP) “By The River”. The fire spitter from New York is getting ready to release yet another EP in November called “Crowns Don’t Cure The Headache”. Today I have the first single from the project “Grown” produced by Cxdy.

The formula hasn’t so much changed as much as it’s been refined, by Bahani. He’s still spitting bars that will make your head spin, have you rewinding and repeating the whole cut. Bahani says that “Crowns Don’t Cure The Headache” is going to be a more personal bout this time around, but Bahani has proven all 2017 that he’s more than capable of creating a diverse set of art. “CDCTH” is set to release November 4th.

Kamron Bahani: “By The River” [Album Review]

Earlier this year I introduced you to Kamron Bahani a New York emcee. Along with that introduction came his debut project “DSM VI”. I felt it was a clever EP that really gave a face to a lot of the mental health issues we face. I’m a sucker for any artist who actually opens themselves up personally, but to add to that (and I’ve said this a million times) he has raw talent, flow and vocabulary. Now we’re here with his first full length project “By The River”, ten tracks deep, let’s jump in.

There’s more going on this time around with Kamron Bahani, more subjects, more rapid fire flow and more experiments. “JoeBuddenMightLikeSomeOfMyShit” starts the album off, with Bahani going in. To me though the real showstopper is “Pistola” a true showcase of Bahani’s abilities and honestly a track I think we’ll be hearing more of soon. In the age of the Lil Yachtys, Futures etc, Bahani mixes a bit of vintage with new school.

For the most part Bahani’s experiments works, sometimes though it comes off a bit jarring or flat. “Ride or Die” is a tale of heartbreak, Kamron Bahani, grabs you by the heartstrings from the minute he starts rapping. However then the hook comes and the lyrics, again are perfect and fit the track, but Bahani is no singer. Some backing vocals or even someone else singing the hook would’ve given the track more life, with Bahani it slowed the cadence and flow of the track. “Common” faces something of the same problem, “Scootz” Bahani tears the beat to shreds, but the hook is something we’ve heard many songs before this one and doesn’t really offer anything different.

“By The River” is a slightly less focused effort in comparison to his previous work in “DSM VI”. This isn’t entirely a bad thing because he’s extending his reach, however the execution in some of the hooks and singing doesn’t fit. Kamron Bahani comes through again with no guest features giving him the brunt of the work on this project and it works. Bahani is still learning his place in this and “By The River” is a very encouraging stepping stone as he moves forward in his career.

New York emcee Kamron Bahani showed a lot of raw potential in his debut project “DSM VI” a musical interpretation of different mental illnesses. Ears were perked off the EP, Bahani with his rap fire flow and next level lyricism, gave Bahani new fans. However “DSM VI” isn’t where Bahani’s year ends, today I have the debut LP from Kamron Bahani entitled “By The River”.

10 tracks deep, Bahani is still personal but definitely holds back in comparison to his previous project. That said the raw lyricism and flow are still there, Bahani will impress you and have you going back and relistening to his rapid fire flow. There are some hooks on here that seem really forced, but the rapping is intact and isn’t that what we’re here for. Bahani covers heartbreak, the competition and even goes back in time to tell us an intense story about his father.

For now you can stream “By The River” below, keep it locked here as I’ll be reviewing the record in full next week.

Kamron Bahani: “Pistola” (prod. by Teddy Walton) [Music Video]

August 3, 2017 by Michael Stover Leave a Comment

New York emcee Kamron Bahani is in the homestretch of his album campaign and he’s saved some of the best music for last. His debut album “By The River” is set to release August 25th, to really bring the point home today I have a video for “Pistola”. Produced by Teddy Walton, “Pistola” has our emcee putting everything aside for straight bars. He’s not here to mince words, he’s not here to be polite, he’s here to take the throne that’s his. Different flows, cadences and change-ups are what have eyes and ears perked for Bahani.

You can check out “Pistola” above and if you missed you can check out the first single from “By The River” called “6:33” right HERE. Keep it locked here as we’ll be premiering Bahani’s debut album later this month.
