RDGLDGN have made a habit out of attracting the attention of legends and, in turn, working with them. For their latest track “Robots”, the DC-based indie go-go trio continued this trend by returning to the studio with the incomparable Dave Grohl (who drummed on the track) once again. For ‘Robots’, which premiered this morning on HillyDilly.com, the band also collaborated with a legend of a different sort as the artwork was done by revered artist and graphic designer Ghica Popa. Popa has worked for Nike, DC Shoes, Samsung and Coke among countless others. The artwork that the Bucharest-based artist created for the singe is exemplary of his distinctive style, easily recognized by the mixture of robots, industrial rivets, square spaces vehicles and strange characters.
“Robots” has all the makings of a summer anthem, from the airy vocals to the thoughtfully upbeat guitars and huge chorus. The track offers a glimpse into the creative evolution of the band since the release of the RDGLDGRN LP. Don’t misinterpret this as the band going in a different direction though, as the track is more a reflection of RDGLDGRN fine-tuning their signature indie go-go sound than abandoning it. While the track isn’t officially associated with any release, it does come ahead of a new EP due out later this year.
