News | Phonte and 9th Wonder Are Friends Again

This is a great way to start off the new year. First Jeezy and Gucci Mane, now Phonte and 9th. Phonte and 9th Wonder have finally ended their 4 year feud. According to Phonte, “it took 4 years, 2 plates of food and 6 hrs. of convo, but we squashed it.” as he stated on Twitter. He further elaborated,

I appreciate the love for me and @9thwondermusic, but us mending our rift had nothing to do with music and everything to do with manhood. We may collaborate in time, but this is not the start of a LB reunion as neither of us have interest in doing so. Sorry to disappoint. Our friendship began as Phonte Coleman and Patrick Douthit long before a ‘LB’ or ‘9th Wonder’ existed. This was about rebuilding that bond. So in closing, happy new year to all our supporters past and present. Feels great to start the year on a positive note. One love.

This is a win for hip-hop. A big win. For far too long we have seen great and talented artists end up in beefs over what amounts to nothing at times. In this situation, we do not know the details surrounding the Phonte and 9th Wonder’s beef over the last few years and for the most part, that was a private matter. What we do know, and what matters, is that they are in good graces again. I had the privilege of meeting and interviewing 9th Wonder last year at the A3C. He is a sound brother. From what I have seen and read from Phonte, he is another solid brother as well.

We have seen hip-hop grow and mature over the last few years. Let’s hope this is a continued trend moving forward. We deserve it.
