Ever heard about the Piu Piu sound? Well, hold on to your horses while I carefully explain it to you.
Many years ago, somewhere in the region of Quebec, well Montreal to be precise, a band of underground producers came together for the mutual love of beat making. I’m not quite sure how many were involved but let’s just say there is an interesting, diverse and fully functioning beat scene in said city. These cats nicknamed their style “Piu Piu” which is an onomatopoeia akin to the retro laser sounds. This scene gave birth to cats like Kaytranada, Lou Piensa etc.
Liam, a young producer is also part of that scene and has done a bunch of work alongside his rhyming partner ST– both known as ST x Liam and is also an accomplished graphic designer. His latest work is a lo-fi, 14 track project titled “Keep It Moving“.
Liam‘s style is a solid mix of vintage samples, lo fi synths, head snapping drums and thick groovy basslines to match. This is very fresh and laid back, definitely something to rock to anytime of the day.
