Yeezus is the sixth solo studio album by American hip hop recording artist and producer Kanye West. There has been a lot said about this album during the last week and finally, finally, finally, we have our say so on Yeezus. During the last week, hip hop has been divided on Kanye West’s latest project not knowing what to make of the album. So here is our review of the album. Leave your thoughts in the c-section limited to discussion of the album.

Thank you for your thorough and spot on points on Yeezus. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks it’s garbage for the reasons you specified. I get so tired of people saying that Yeezus is “revolutionary”, “out the box”, and “the greatest album he’s ever done.” No, it isn’t. Not in terms of beats, presentation, and damn sure not in lyrics, and I’ve followed Kanye from the beginning. Keep up the good work!
People keep denying the Death Grips connection but what is this shit?

A picture of the Death Grip guys wearing Daft Punk’s helmets, supposedly taken when they were hanging out with each other. Point being, Daft Punk (the dudes who made some of the tracks) were totally aware of the work of Death Grips. The level of influence is debatable but the aesthetic choice to move in that direction is undeniable.
I think you should start to put more intellectual effort in your reviews. Saying that an album is good or bad, or just comparing it to other artists (in this case Death Grips) is not enough. It also seems that you have not listened to Yeezus enough to really be able to express an informed opinion. I don’t get any perspective from you on samples used (e.g. Nina Simone’s strange fruit) or sudden shifts of some song’s message and vibe (e.g. I am a god) and what these things might mean, considering they were done on purpose. For instance, in the song black skinhead, Kanye is gasping himself after saying “you are not breathing, you are gasping”. As if he is often talking to himself in the mirror. Or take the “blood on the leaves” citations, which are clearly linked to the Abel Meerpol poem about lynching. I miss these types of analyses that are clearly needed if you want to discuss works from calibres like Kanye West. So, I must say, whilst being a fan of your reviews, recently I am a bit disappointed by the mediocre-ness of your analyses. Please step your game up.
Sorry you didn’t enjoy the video. I listened to Yeezus over 10 times and do have an informed opinion on the album. Based on your comment, you were looking for a specific type of analysis of Yeezus that wasn’t delivered which is fine. You’re entitled to that. But you have a certain viewpoint of the album that a few of us may not share so even if we dived into the details of Yeezus, it’s possible that you walk away from the video disappointed because we still didn’t points you want us to cover.
Boy, did you tell us! I’m sure you don’t care about a response from us lowly unintelligent ninnies, but here’s mine: http://www.deadendhiphop.com/who-cares-yeezus-christ-will-you-stop-crying-about-our-review/
I actually love this album, but I also enjoy Death Grips, especially NO LOVE DEEP WEB. But in my opinion this album doesn’t really draw comparison to Death Grips outside of the first 3 songs. The rest of it really sounds like Travi$ Scott. My enjoyment of YEEZUS and really anything Kanye related is mainly related to the production and sound. Kanye has never had consistent bars, and he’s always been pretentious. It’s not boundary pushing at all, but it is enjoyable to me.
I thought the album was absolutely horrendous. Honestly I love Kanyes music and I agree that if this was Death Grips or some shit people wouldn’t like it. I am at the point where if Kanye were to take a shit and record it people would still give it a 10/10. But hes still a great artist at the end of the day I just can’t co-sign this.
