Declaime: “Cops Still Ain’t Sh*t” feat. Saul Williams, Ms Dezy & Riley Fresh [Music Video] (via @EMGPresents)

March 28, 2018 by Michael Stover

In light of the recent news of the fatal shooting of yet another unarmed Black man at the hands of law enforcement, the influential underground West Coast hip hop/funk maverick, Declaime (aka Dudley Perkins), shares the powerful animated music video for “Cops Still Ain’t Sh*t,” created by SomeOthaShip Connect artist, and in-house animator Oji. Produced by Georgia Anne Muldrow and featuring guest vocals from Saul Williams, Declaime’s daughter Ms. Dezy and son Riley Fresh, the song speaks out against police brutality in America, and expresses the longstanding frustration of oppressed people of color as a result.

“Cops Still Ain’t Shit” is a standout from Declaime‘s latest album Young Spirit (out now via SomeOthaShip Connect/eOne Music).

Produced by Declaime’s wife and music partner Georgia Anne Muldrow, and longtime friend and collaborator Madlib, Young Spirit balances Declaime‘s unique rapping delivery over psychedelic funk and otherworldly soundscapes. With the help from guest vocalists such as Saul Williams, Aloe Blacc, Blu, and more, the album serves as Declaime’s uplifting message to young oppressed people of color in America, covering topics from police brutality, to black love, and more.
