I had Koncept and J57’s EP “The Fuel” made my top releases of last year with Koncept giving us stories of struggle, celebration and everything in between and J57 giving us positive sample-free production. Their campaign isn’t over yet though with the video for “Crazy is Beautiful” dropping last week. A creative video whose visuals tap into more of the dark side of things, I strongly suggest watching this. If you feel it, you can cop Kon57’s EP “The Fuel” HERE.
Kanye’s “The Life of Pablo” has been met with mixed reviews, but one song that’s been getting a lot of play is “I Love Kanye”. One thing I didn’t even think about though was the opportunities to remix this joint. I’ve heard some good ones, my favorite has to be the legend DJ Premier’s remix. Always harkening the golden age of hip-hop with heavy piano loops and even scratches, Premo adds his own flavor and then some to this remix. Stream the remix below!
New York emcee Moe Waveyy has been catching fire the last couple of years, his trek continues with the “No Love” EP slated to come out earlier this year. To get fans ready for this he released a bonus track called “Honor”. Produced by Noah Yisra’el, Waveyy doesn’t leave any stone left unturned and is calling out everyone from sucka rappers to those just not doing what it takes to make it. Noah’s sampled beat with a trap vibe fits Waveyy like a glove. Stream the joint below and if you like it’s a free download. Be on the lookout for Moe Waveyy’s “No Love” EP dropping soon.

Kno (of Cunninlynguists) and DJ Flip Flop are Dirty Decibels who offer production and engineering services. Over the weekend the duo dropped a remix for Waka Flocka’s “Pray For ‘Em”. I honestly can’t say I’ve heard the original (with very little motivation to do so) but this remix keeps the high energetic vibe while also giving the track its own spin. The duo have released a couple other remixes as well with 2chainz and Jason Derulo, make sure to peep those too.

Today I have new music out of the label Producers I Know, Newstalgia is a Detroit producer who has an album on the way called “The Formula”. At midnight last night Dart Adams, dropped the first video called “Day One”. “Day One” features Has-Lo and Red Pill (of Ugly Heroes). With a news broadcast being sampled in the beginning and with Has and Pill going in with bars that put society under the microscope, my ears are ready to hear more. Newstalgia is clearly inspired by the old school sound and it shines in this track. We don’t know too much about this album but my ears are perked and my eyes are open. Keep it locked here for details.
On February, 11th 2016, P.A.T. Junior shared a 30 second visual written letter to his followers via social media:
“What’s Up Everybody? I’ve been fairly quiet about my music as of late because I’ve been hard at work. Well, I need you to ‘test’ some new material…“
The artist went on to say that starting February 19th, he’ll be sharing 4 singles from a his upcoming project over the course of a few months (plus a little something extra). Keeping his word, P.A.T. Junior dropped two singles today. One from his upcoming project, that will remain online for 24 ours only and a loose single that will remain indefinitely.
Blackest Bird (this will only be up for 24 hours) is a single featuring singer Greg Cox and rapper Benny Star, the two rappers share their experiences of being role models/mentors to at risk youth in their community. In the face of adversity, the writers continue to remind themselves that “every sentence has to be a feather, added to his wings so he’s blind to the heavy weather”.
I Don’t Know, But I Know is a single featuring singer/rapper Eons D, where P.A.T. Junior discusses the questioning of his personal faith in God, His desire but failure to do right and his determination to find sureness despite his unsureness.
Today I have a special premiere for you guys. Ohio artist Pathos has dropped his latest effort in “Rhetoric” a mixtape inspired by Pathos name change (he was formerly known as 61ack4eart, in honor of his hometown of Columbus), his interest in rhetoric and how emotion affects the audience. For Pathos this is a re-introduction to the sounds, flows and art that he is creating now. “Rhetoric” channels this emotion while also allowing Pathos to perform lyrical exercise over some fire instrumentals. Up next for the artist is a beat tape and multiple EPs both collaborative and solo.
I’ma leave you guys with two extremely important things first off, RIP to James Yancey a pioneer not only in hip-hop but across all of music. To celebrate his Legacy DJ House Shoes has put together “King James Version Part III”. As with the other two parts this is a collection of songs that J Dilla has sampled over the years. Best part is he brings it to us for the price of FREE.99. You can stream the 54 minute journey below.
With it being Black History Month we’ve celebrated the Legacy of J Dilla, we’ve seen Kanye West bring his dreams to fruition with “The Life of Pablo”. Michigan emcees James Gardin and JahShua Smith have come together to release “Black Excellence”. With everything that’s been going on with shootings and the portrayal of African Americans in the media, the two emcees are calling African Americans to be unequivocally Black. In the lue of Kendrick Lamar, Beyonce and so many other artists Gardin and Smith give us life over a beat by The Sound Addict. Peep it below! Happy Black History Month!!!
Believe it or not Kanye West’s “The Life of Pablo” is not the album I’ve been waiting for today, its been Jakarta Records release of Ivan Ave and Mndsgn’s record “Helping Hands”. After dropping “The Circle” and “Obedience” we finally get to hear the full creation of these two geniuses. Driven by soul and angelic sounds Mndsgn brings life to the lyrical acrobatics of Ivan Ave. I’m going to leave the album stream below, I know we’re all waiting for Kanye, but there is a ton of other dope music out today and “Helping Hands” is part of it. Look for my personal review here on Dead End Hip Hop soon.
