Black El x Durbin – Thanks For Nothing

August 15, 2012 by deadendhiphop

I always look forward to new music from Black El and Durbin. Black El has a sort of throwback feel to me when he flows and while that isn’t evident as much on this song as others in the past, he comes through with a nice narrative about a girl who just loves to stay in situations that don’t always work out in her best interest. Durbin gives him a beat that is just enough to help carry the message along and uses certain moments in the song to keep it interesting. The repetitive voice has a potential to lull you to sleep but with the varying production implored throughout the song, it keeps you engaged throughout.
