ADUM⁷ (FKA MeccaGodZilla) : “Wakanda Forever”

NY based music producer, ADUM⁷ (fka MeccaGodZilla) delivers a 7 track instrumental EP in honour of the record-breaking success of Marvel Studios “Black Panther” movie. The project which he titled “Wakanda Forever” is heavily inspired by the Ryan Coogler directed film and taps into the very fabric of the characters and anecdotes from the movie.

Musically, ADUM⁷’s brings his favourite characters in the film, notably King T’Challa, Shuri, Killmonger, Nakia, and Okoye played by Chadwick Boseman, Letitia Wright, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o and Danai Gurira to life via his keyboards, sampler and hard hitting drums. On another note, he gives us an insight into another aspect of the project below.

Shuri played by Letitia Wright really did it for me.  There’s something about her balance of strength, intelligence, witty jokes and innocence that really did it for me.  After leaving the movies I just couldn’t stop thinking about her role and how our younger sisters and cousins must have perceived her.  With that in mind, it’s only right that I give back a portion of the proceeds an organization of choice, that being Black Girls Code. I loved the physical strength, grace and skill of both Nakia and Okoye as warriors but I love that Shuri repped for the warriors that are skilled with ingenuity to fight with their minds.  I think Black Girls code would be a great choice to send album proceeds to!  The Black Panther Challenge funded many to be able to go see the film, in honour of that energy I want to send funds to an organization responsible for teaching our young sisters how to get busy with coding and technology!

Although this EP is free, you can also choose to pay for it. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Black Girls Code.  Black Girls Code is a not-for-profit organization that focuses on providing technology education for African-American girls.
