WATCH: A Tribe Called Quest & Company Perform at the 2017 Grammys by @milfence

February 13, 2017 by deadendhiphop

Hip-hop really showed out at the Grammys last night. It was already exciting to see Chance the Rapper win Best New Artist, Best Rap Album and Best Rap Performance. But then the legendary group, A Tribe Called Quest, took the stage, along with Busta Rhymes and Anderson .Paak, and had one of the most electric performances of the night. Starting out with nods to classic tracks, “Award Tour” and “Can I Kick It?”, the group then swiftly moved into a performance of “Movin’ Backwards”, a song done in collaboration with .Paak off their newest album, We got it from Here… Thank U 4 Your service. The group then switched over to their powerful track, “We The People….”, where Busta Rhymes gave a shoutout to “President Agent Orange” a.k.a. Donald Trump. The performance was dedicated to the deceased Tribe member Phife Dawg, and was honored properly with his verse on “We The People….”

If you haven’t yet, check out one of the most energized, and political, performances of that night below:
